5/27/20 @ 2:30 p.m. - The 2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is Friday, May 29th through Thursday, June 4th. During this period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. This week is National Invasive Species Awareness Week. Did you know that plants not native to our area can actually disrupt the ecosystem? Did you also know that just because a plant is sold in a local store doesn't mean it's native to our area? Below is a photo of a a Mother of Millions plant found right here in Nassau County. Please click here to learn more about this coastal invader. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 5/27/20 @ 12:00 p.m. - On May 22nd, we issued a Press Release announcing that a budget meeting will be held on Thursday, May 28th for non-profits to present their Fiscal Year 2020-2021 funding requests to the County Manager and Budget Director.
As referenced in the press release, attached is the complete schedule for the presentations. The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers located at 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee, FL 32097. The meeting will be open to the public with limited seating, however individuals can view the meeting live at www.nassauclerk.com/watch-meetings. Individuals with disabilities needing a reasonable accommodation to participate in this proceeding should contact the County Manager’s Office at (904) 530-6010, or if hearing impaired, the Florida Relay Service, at 1-800-955-8700 (v) or 1-800-955-8771 (TDD). -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office The Board of County Commissioners has a regular meeting scheduled tomorrow at 10am. A copy of the agenda can be located here.

The meeting is open to the public with limited seating. Residents can participate remotely in several ways.

From Emergency Management: As of 11 am, May 24, 2020, FDOH Nassau CHD has received one new case of a positive COVID19 test in a Nassau resident. The case is a 66 year old male with no travel history nor known contact to a positive case. The Health Department has completed case investigation and contact tracing. The individual will remain in isolation until released by public health. This brings the Nassau total case count to 70 including 65 residents and 5 non-residents. As of this date, 54 individuals have been released from isolation. 5/23/20 @ 6:25 p.m. - Executive Order No. 11 was issued today, amending Section 5(b) of Executive Order No. 10, reducing the hours between occupancy for vacation rentals. This was done at the request of local lodging establishments and is consistent with other plans around the State.

Keep Nassau Beautiful is hosting a post Memorial Day beach clean up event. If you’re interested in volunteering, report to one of the locations listed in the photo. They will not be providing face masks so you would need to bring your own. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager’s Office 5/22/20 @ 11:00 pm- Governor DeSantis issued a memorandum today ordering flags to be flown at half-staff through Sunday, May 24th in honor of the victims of the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic.
5/22/20 @ 5:20 p.m. - The Florida Association of Counties announced today that only 26 out of the 67 Florida counties has had their plans approved to reopen vacation rentals during the pandemic. We are proud to be one of those 26 counties! We also appreciate the efforts by DBPR Secretary, Halsey Beshears, for having our plan reviewed and approved so quickly.
