Welcome to beautiful Nassau County, located in the northeast corner of Florida along the Atlantic Ocean and Interstate 95. We are proud to serve as the Eastern Gateway to the Sunshine State. From our historic island, sandy beaches, and championship golf courses to our scenic rivers, green pastures, and majestic timberlands, we truly offer something for everyone.
5/12/20 @ 9:00 a.m. - At the meeting held in regular session on Monday, May 11th, the Board of County Commissioners awarded a bid to CGC, Inc., to construct a new dedicated right turn lane on Miner Road at State Road 200. This new turn lane will alleviate some of the delays drivers are currently experiencing when trying to head straight onto Felmor Road or when turning eastbound onto State Road 200. We anticipate work to begin in June.

Contact: Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer (904) 530-6010 [email protected] Plan for Beach Driving Being Developed Nassau County, Florida, May 7, 2020- County beaches were reopened on Friday, May 1, 2020, for most normal activities. Social distancing is still being recommended by the Center for Disease Control so in an effort to prevent overcrowding, beach driving has been temporarily delayed. County Officials met on site today with the Sheriff and members of his department to discuss a plan to reintroduce cars to Peters Point and American Beach. The plan includes designated driving lines for safety of beach users and designated parking areas to maintain social distancing. The initial plan also includes keeping parking areas open for everyone to utilize, but to limit on-beach parking to Nassau County residents only. This would require attendees to be present at each access point to check identification to ensure those driving onto the beach are Nassau County residents. The scheduled time for beach use would remain 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. each day as previously set. This would include the use of the beach, walkovers and parking lot areas. Please note these are initial plans and that no decision has been made yet by the Board of County Commissioners. The County Manager hopes to have the plan finalized for Board consideration on Wednesday, May 13th. So far, it appears that everyone has been adhering to the CDC guidelines and maintaining social distancing. Great job everyone! The Board appreciates everyone’s patience thus far. ![]() 5/7/20 @ 11:15 a.m. - Last week, the Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution No. 2020-90 in honor of Ms. Joan D. Bean, who passed away on April 22nd. Ms. Bean was an icon in the City of Fernandina Beach. She was a wife, mother, business owner, and community activist who fought for the downtown businesses and preservation of the island. She was also very active in the community and could always be spotted playing cards, attending monthly Senior Meet & Greets at the Recreation Center, taking water aerobics and smiling at almost any community gathering. She will be greatly missed by all of us! We urge everyone to continue praying for the Bean family as they suffer the loss of an amazing woman. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 5/6/20 @ 2:30 p.m.
