Mr. Gray is currently serving as the County Commissioner for District 3. Mr. Gray's career with Volvo/Mack Trucks, Inc. required him to relocate on several occasions however after relocating to Nassau County 20+ years ago, he knew that Nassau County was the place he wanted to be forever. When he is not working or volunteering, Mr. Gray can be found attending church, boating, working out and spending quality time with his family. Happy Birthday Commissioner Gray! -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 7/19/23 @ 3:00 p.m. - On Friday, July 14, 2023, Nassau County Parks & Recreation hosted an Outdoor Movie Event which featured food trucks, movie trivia and a showing of "The Princess Bride" on our giant movie screen. The movie trivia turned out to be a great addition to our Summer Movie Series and featured 60 multiple choice questions about movies from all genres. We ended up with a tie in two of the trivia rounds so we resolved it having a good old-fashioned game of rock, paper, scissors. So fun! Thank you to everyone who came out to this event. We hope that you had a great time. The next event in our Summer Movies Series will be a showing of "E.T." on Friday, August 18th. Stay tuned for details. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer Adopting a shelter pet is good for your wallet and your soul! Shelter pets cost less than pets found at a breeder and the price of adoption includes vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and microchipping. And you can feel good knowing that you're providing an animal a second chance at a new life beyond shelter walls. What are some other advantages of adopting a shelter pet you ask? Below are a list of top 10 reasons provided by ASPCA:
If you are interested in adopting a pet, please visit Nassau County Animal Services located at 86078 License Road (across from Target). We recently visited the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island to see strategies they employ for sea turtle safety which includes placement of signage, double checking that all outdoor lights are turtle friendly, and by securing their courtyard switch so it can’t be turned on by guests during turtle nesting season. Through their two staff environmentalists, they also work hard to ensure that guests are aware of local regulations that enhance sea turtle safety. This includes suspending bonfire activities, ensuring all beach furniture is brought in daily, and by placing informational magazines in the room of all guests educating them on sea turtle nesting season and what they can do to keep our beach safe for nesting sea turtles. We greatly appreciate the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island for doing their part to protect this wonderful species! -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer Below are public meetings scheduled for this week:
