11/1/17 @ 11:30 a.m. - The Fernandina Beach Library will be hosting Medicare 101, an information workshop in which individuals can learn the basics about Medicare. There will be an experienced agent in attendance to answer all your questions and to help you determine how much Medicare coverage you need. 10/3/17 @ 9:40 a.m. - Attention Teens and Young Adults! A new room has been designed just for you at the Fernandina Branch Library. Come celebrate with a showing of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, food and prizes this Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. Please see the attached flyer for additional information, or contact the Library at (904) 530-6500. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 8/28/17 @ 10:15 a.m. - Did you know that the several departments under the Board of County Commissioners provide monthly status updates on activities that were completed the previous month, as well as a timeline of ongoing projects? For example, in the below report for Public Works, the Board was provided information on active projects such as the Pages Dairy/Chester Road Intersection Project, resurfacing and widening of CR 115, the paving of Crawford Road, the resurfacing of Andrews Road and Thomas Creek Road, as well as many other projects currently underway and a list of recently completed projects.
Below you can also find the most recent reports from the Building Department/Code Enforcement, the County Extension Office, Facilities Maintenance, Nassau County Fire/Rescue, and the Library. These reports are submitted to the Board at their monthly day meeting which falls on the third Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of having to locate the appropriate agenda to find the monthly reports, we will begin posting them here for your information. Their contact information can be located on the County's website under the "Departments" tab. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 5/25/17 @ 1:40 p.m. - The Nassau County Library System and the Supervisor of Elections Office has created displays at each library branch in recognition of Memorial Day. The displays consist of library materials that are available for check-out, as well as FREE copies of the Nassau County Veterans of War Memorial Roll from the Supervisor of Elections Office. For branch locations and hours of operation, please visit the Library's website. 5/19/17 @ 1:00 p.m. - The Nassau County Public Library System has begun registrations for Summer Reading Programs!
Children from birth to age 11 can register for Summer Reading for Kids. This year's theme is "Build A Better World". After you register online, bring each registered child into a library branch to receive a back pack containing a reading log, stickers, and fun activity sheets. For each week they return their reading log to the library, they will receive a prize (while supplies last). Registration is open until July 31st. Teens and adults ages 13 and up also have a summer reading program. All you have to do is register online and read at least one book per week to be entered into a drawing for one of five Kindle Fires! They will also have drawings for signed copies of three of David Baldacci's books, The Finisher, The Keeper, and Width of the World. Participants will learn about discoveries that have been made throughout the State, as well as significant milestones in the past and present.
Each series will take place at Florida State Community College - Nassau Campus in the David Yulee Room. The sale will be held in the Peck Gymnasium located at 516 South 10th Street in Fernandina Beach and will feature thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, and audio books. The event begins on Thursday, April 27th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a special preview for Friends of the Library members. If you are not a member but wish to get a sneak peak of all the great things they have to offer, you can join at the door!
