At the Wednesday, March 20, 2024 meeting, the Board issued Proclamation No. 2024-012, recognizing Claire Shepherd on her upcoming retirement after 25 years of service to the County.
Claire began her employment with Nassau County on March 1, 1999 as an Accounts Payable Clerk for the Clerk of Courts. However, Claire transferred to the Board of County Commissioners in 2006, where she has spent a majority of her time serving the community through the Nassau County Public Library System.
In her current position as Administrative Coordinator, Claire has provided top level administrative support to the Library System. Her duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining financial records; overseeing and processing all in-person and electronic payments by library patrons; preparing and auditing the department's budget; coordinating year-end closing procedures; maintaining personnel records; and acting as Records Manager. Claire also serves as a liasion between the Library System and other County departments.
Throughout her career with Nassau County, Claire has provided exemplary service to the citizens of Nassau County, as well as to her co-workers by performing her duties in a conscientious and responsible manner.
Claire will retire on April 5, 2024 and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to work with her, as well as the citizens of Nassau County.
