4/13/21 @ 9:15 a.m. - Saturday's tire collection event was a great success! 640 tires were collected in less than two hours. Unfortunately, the event had to close early due to the truck filling so quickly, however there will be future events. Also, don't forget that Nassau County residents can dispose of up to 4 tires per year at no-charge at the Convenience & Recycling Center located on Landfill Rd. in Callahan.

![]() 4/8/21 @ 8:30 a.m. - Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday, April 10th, is the annual Waste Tire Amnesty Event. This event allows Nassau County residents to dispose of up to 15 tires at no charge. Tires must be off the rim and free of debris. Commercial loads will not be accepted. The event will take place at the Nassau County Convenience Recycle Center located at 46026 Landfill Rd., Callahan. The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., however may close earlier if truck reaches capacity before noon. If you have any questions, please contact Keep Nassau Beautiful at (904) 261-0165. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 10/9/20 @ 10:20 a.m. - On Saturday, August 15, 2020, Keep Nassau Beautiful and Nassau County Solid Waste hosted a Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Event. During a 4 hour period, over 500 vehicles delivered 69,973 pounds of materials. Most common items included paint, electronics, propane tanks, oils & lubricants, aerosol cans, batteries and fluorescent light bulbs.
The next event is currently being planned so please stay tuned for details! -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 9/30/20 @ 8:15 a.m. - Beginning Thursday, October 1, 2020, the Nassau County Convenience Recycling Center located at 46026 Landfill Rd. Callahan, will begin accepting latex paint for disposal. Previously, latex paint could only be disposed of twice a year at the Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Events. Now, you can dispose of it safely year-round at the Convenience Recycling Center during normal business hours.
Please keep in mind that the Convenience Recycling Center is closed on Wednesdays, however they are open every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon to accommodate residents who can't make it during the work week. Also, stay tuned for an upcoming Public Service Announcement describing how you can safely dispose of latex paint at home. We will be working with Keep Nassau Beautiful to bring this information to the residents within the next few weeks. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office Nassau County is excited to announce that the Solid Waste Department will begin accepting cardboard for recycling at the Bailey Rd and Goodbread Rd recycling locations, beginning on October 1, 2020. Previously, the only County owned recycling facility that accepted cardboard was the Convenience and Recycling Center located qt 46026 Landfill Rd. in Callahan.
For all cardboard recycling centers, please note that the cardboard must be broken down and free of any packing material or styrofoam. The cardboard should then be placed in the bin labeled for cardboard. Plastics, glass, aluminum, office paper and newspaper can also be recycled at those locations in the Single Stream Recycle Bins.
