The ceremony began with a welcome message by Vice-Chairman, Pat Edwards. Then, County Engineer, Robert Companion, led the group with an invocation and provided a quick overview of the project, including the project timeline and types of improvements that will be made. District 4 County Commissioner, Thomas Ford, was unable to attend because he was at the hospital waiting on the birth of his new son, Walker. He sent his regrets and invited District 5 County Commissioner, Justin Taylor, to speak on his behalf about the much needed improvements and how this new segment of road will improve mobility on the west side of the County. County Manager, Taco Pope, closed the presentations by thanking everyone for their hard work bringing this project to fruition.
The presentations were followed by the "breaking the ground". Commissioner Elect, Klynt Farmer, was in attendance so the existing Board invited him to participate in this segment of the ceremony.
