Government Finance Professionals Week is celebrated annually across the country in March to recognize government finance professionals who work hard every day to ensure that financial policies are followed and that processes in place are sufficient.
At the Wednesday, March 20, 2024 meeting the Board approved Proclamation No. 2024-011 proclaiming the week of March 18 - March 22, 2024 as Florida Government Finance Professionals Week in Nassau County. Representatives from the Office of Management & Budget, as well as the finance staff from the Clerk of Courts Office were in attendance at the meeting.
Office of Management & Budget Director Chris Lacambra stated, "I want to thank the Board for recognizing us. I have a fantastic team behind me. They perform grants, budgets, and billing functions. What we do culminates yearly and is reflected in the budget book. We are looking forward to getting our second Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the FGFOA." Chris credited County Manager Taco Pope, Assistant County Manager Marshall Eyerman and Deputy County Manager/County Engineer Robert Companion on their collective leaedership and guidance in helping them achieve the first award.
Chris also stated, "All the Constitutional Offices (Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Supervisor of Elections, Sheriff, Tax Collector and Property Appraiser) work very closely together. There's a synergy between us because some of us have been working together for 20 - 25 years. We've known each other that long and it's just a great benefit to the County."
We greatly appreciate all of the County's finance professionals for all their hard work and dedication.
