The website allows you to access information tailored to your situation and needs. By answering a series of questions, Reduce Flood Risk can help you identify strategies most likely to protect your home or business from flooding in the future. Below is a quick demonstration video which shows you how to navigate the site. Stay tuned in March for additional tips as we recognize Flood Awareness Week. #ReduceFloodRisk -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer ![]() The Nassau County Property Appraiser is offering Saturday hours this month to provide additional opportunities for residents to come in, ask questions about property values, and file for homestead exemption. Beginning on Monday, February 13th, the contractor will be working to install the new gravity sewer which will require daytime closures to Gregg Street. Residents of the area will be allowed to pass as needed. The contractors will also work with the postal company, garbage companies, etc. to allow them to pass, if and when needed. The daytime closures are expected to continue through March 10th.
-Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 2/8/23 @ 8:45 a.m. - Late last week, several new employees of the Road Department participated in Maintenance of Traffic training to learn about guidelines related to temporary traffic control during a construction project. During this training, employees focused on flagging operations and were able to test their knowledge in a mock work zone set up at the Hilliard Road Department site.
Flagger training is one of several areas covered in the Road Department's new hire training. Other training activities for new hires include learning to operate small power equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, and other tools needed for construction maintenance, as well as overview of the County's Safety Policy. The County enhanced its new hire training last year to provide additional guidance to entry-level Road Department personnel. During the 21/22 Fiscal Year, the County also established an Apprenticeship Program designed to give Road Department employees a clear defined career path with opportunities to advance quickly. These individuals can begin their career as a Maintenance Helper and within 3-4 years, advance to a Maintenance Operator with the ability to operate heavy equipment. This is the perfect opportunity for someone wishing to learn a trade and make a career in Nassau County. If you have any questions, please contact Assistance Road Director, David Hearn, at (904) 530-6175 or via e-mail at [email protected].
